Code of Conduct
Our expectations for all active JayapuraJS members, organizers, speakers, and volunteers to build a welcoming space.
We expect JayapuraJS to be a safe, welcoming, and healthy place for every developer and tech enthusiast. JayapuraJS strictly prohibits all forms of discrimination and harassment at our in-person meetups, workshops, online forums, GitHub repositories, and chat groups.
We expect everyone to:
- Assume good intentions. Approach community interactions defaulting to trust and positivity. We are all here to learn and grow together.
- Build "in the open" and share knowledge. Be open to teaching others, whether they are beginners or senior developers, and be just as open to learning from them.
- Be respectful and empathetic. Our community is made up of people with diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and experiences. Treat differing viewpoints with respect.
- Gracefully accept and offer constructive feedback. Whether in a code review, a hackathon, or after a meetup talk, offer feedback in a spirit of helpfulness, and receive it as an opportunity to improve.
Reporting a Violation
If you experience or witness something that violates our Code of Conduct, please report it to the JayapuraJS community organizers directly via direct message or by emailing our organizer team. All reports will be reviewed and investigated promptly. Your confidentiality will be protected as much as possible during the review process.
Enforcement
If a community member is found to have violated our Code of Conduct, the organizing team will take action to protect the community. Depending on the severity of the offense, responses may include a formal warning, removal from a specific event or chat group, or a permanent ban from the JayapuraJS community and all future events.
JayapuraJS prohibits retaliation against anyone who participates in a Code of Conduct report or investigation.
Politics & Off-Topic Debates
We respect everyone's right to personal political expression and activism, but we require that our community spaces (both online and offline) remain focused on technology, JavaScript, and local tech ecosystem building. Please avoid initiating political debates in our community channels.
JayapuraJS as an organization does not weigh in on politics publicly, outside of topics directly related to software development or the local tech industry. We ask that all members respect these boundaries so our spaces remain focused and welcoming to everyone.
By joining JayapuraJS meetups, chat rooms, and contributing to our projects, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
